Chevy Chase Trust supports Women and Wine VIII
Chevy Chase Trust’s Stacy Murchison and Leslie Smith led the firm’s support for Georgetown’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center by hosting clients and friends at the eighth annual Women and Wine Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel. One of the highlight’s of the evening was the cancer briefing by Claudine Isaacs, MD, co-director of the Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research and Shawna Willey, MD vice-chair of the Department of Surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Asked about whether women should opt for 3D mammograms over the traditional 2D, both physician proclaimed that the extra $50 co-pay was well worth the cost and the 3D technology is able to decipher more tumors than the 2D.
Raising more than $225,000 this year, the event supports breast cancer research, treatment and education at Georgetown Lombardi, the only National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center in the Washington D.C. area.
