James is a Portfolio Manager and Thematic Research Analyst. He manages high-net-worth and institutional client portfolios and shares responsibility for the development and oversight of investment strategy and process. He also supports the Equity Investment team, conducting thematic research on secular trends and performing fundamental analysis of companies impacted by them.

James has held research and portfolio management roles at a wide range of investment firms including Complex Capital, SAC Capital, J. & W. Seligman, and Morgan Stanley. Prior to Chevy Chase Trust, James was a senior analyst and portfolio manager at BDO Wealth and a Portfolio Manager at Lockheed Martin Investment Management Company.

James graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
